Census Ambassador Ceremony and Job Fair FRIDAY, 1/10/2020 @ 9 am FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, 2020Pharr, Texas – The City of Pharr continues to work proactively throughout the community to ensure a complete count during the fast-approaching 2020 Census by hosting workshops and focusing on community outreach efforts. The city is proud to announce it will be hosting a Census Ambassador Ceremony on Friday, January 10, 2020, from 9:00 – 11:30 am at the Pharr Development & Research Center in (850 W Dicker Rd.) in Pharr. All media is invited to attend. Last month, Pharr held a Parental Workshop in partnership with local school districts in the city to educate parents on the importance of the U. S. Census to the community and local school districts to join efforts to promote the Census among Pharr families to ensure a complete count. Parents who volunteered will be inducted as ambassadors to help the city and schools ensure an accurate count. This Ambassador Program is the first of its kind in the region, state, and nation, and Pharr is one of the only communities to have partnered with local school districts to promote outreach of the 2020 Census among the Pharr community. On the same day, the U. S. Census will also be holding a job fair from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Pharr Development & Research Center in (850 W Dicker Rd.) in Pharr. All media and the public are invited to attend the job fair. They will be hiring for temporary census positions and encourage anyone interested in applying to attend and learn more about the many opportunities available. “We are continuing to work with our community to ensure a complete count for the 2020 Census and look forward to building relationships with our community to educate everyone about the importance of being counted,” said Mayor Ambrosio Hernandez, M.D. “This will affect not only funding for our city but for our schools as well,” he added.
